2026 Reading Resolutions

1 January 2026 · Features

Another year, another set of resolutions.

2025 Check-in

I failed epically this year. Epically.

Bookish

    • ✔ Read 100 books || I hit the 300 mark, and jokingly asked my brother what I should expand it to and he said 500. I thought he was joking. Nope! He was being totally serious about it. Either way, I crushed it by hitting 600. Yes, the last five or six were re-reads to end with an even number, but whatever, I win.
    • ✗ Consume at least two audiobooks || Well, I started one and bought a half dozen… does that count?
    • ✗ Complete the 25 in ‘25 reading challenge hosted by the People We Meet Bookclub Podcast || I forgot all about this entirely.
    • ✗ Read 5 nonfiction books || Nope!

    Bloggish

    • ✗ Create those monthly reading lists and actually post the suckers! || Nope.
    • ✗ Sit down and actually write reviews for what I read. || Bwahahaa
    • ✗ Get a more settled posting schedule. || Yeah, no.
    • ✗ Participated in the Let’s Talk Bookish tag more often || Again, no.

    Personal

    • (kinda) ✔ Start writing in my journal at least twice a week. || I didn’t do too horribly with this. I did write more often, but I didn’t make it the twice a week. I found out what the issue is, so I have a new journal and pens and I’m actually working on it. I also have three journals now. A regular journal, a faith journal that doubles as a life journal (kind of like a personal commonplace book), and a gratitude journal.

    2026 Goals

    Bookish

    • Read 200 books || Starting low again and can edit it up a hundred here and there as I match that. I don’t want it to be too hard to accomplish despite reading 600 last year as I plan to spend more time on other hobbies this year than I did last year.
    • Consume at least two audiobooks || Bringing this back for the year. I’ve been buying the full cast versions of Harry Potter and found a version of Pride and Prejudice that I want to listen to as well.
    • Spend more time updating my Notion library || I only moved like 80 of the 600 books I read last year into Notion. Oopsie. Need to fix that.
    • Read 5 nonfiction books || Low priority again, but would be nice.

    Bloggish

    • Create those monthly reading lists and actually post the suckers! || I am planning on setting up the templates for the whole year, so all I have to do is add in the book covers and star ratings so I can post them for the blog and my instagram
    • Sit down and actually write reviews for what I read || I need to actually make notes on every single book instead of thinking I will remember this stuff. Seriously, do I not know myself? I have the memory of a goldfish for everything except for useless trivia.
    • Get a more settled posting schedule || I failed last year because of my domain issues (brain fart led to my domain not renewing and being released, which necessitated a rebrand) so I want to actually sit and blog properly now that those issues are finished and I’m not sitting around for months and months and months trying to decide between two domain names that I love.
    • Participated in the Let’s Talk Bookish tag more often || Part of the posting schedule. This is like a freebie for my posting schedule, so I may as well take advantage of it.

    Personal

    • Write in my journals regularly || I have three journals now, and I want to use them more. My faith journal is going to be mostly for faith and philosophy sorts of things. I have a regular journal that is my diary for working through my thoughts and remembering things. Then I’m also beginning a gratitude journal. I’ve been looking into it a lot as part of my faith journey and think that it might work for me. I thought it was silly, but now I am seeing the possible benefits, so I want to give it a go for this year.
    • Make a personal curriculum and begin it || I want to continue learning French, would like to begin learning the Hebrew alphabet, and begin learning my violin. I also want to break out my sewing machine and sew more. I would also like to take up embroidery. I want to live my regency life, I need to begin gaining my accomplishments so Caroline Bingley will approve of me.
    • Begin my wardrobe replacement || I’ve been wanting to swap out my wardrobe for a while now and I want to actually execute those plans this year. I want to adopt an “Elven Fantasy Regencycore” aesthetic to my life, which will leave me buying some clothes, and sewing others. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m so over the “blue jeans and a tshirt” life.
    • Work on that fitness! || I’m determined to get into shape this year. At least a little. A park day with my kids showed me how badly my lack of fitness is failing them and I need to fix that while they are still young. Already planning on using part of the tax refund this year towards this. My eldest shot up like a weed and needs a new bicycle, and then I want to buy bikes for my husband and I so we can ride as a family. Teeny can adopt her sister’s old bike when she outgrows hers, likely within the six month, and needs to move up a size. I really really want to get my adult tricycle, but I know a standard 7 speed (I remember when the base standard was a 10 speed. When did this change? I bought my last 10 speed in like 2003) will be easiest to store and travel with. Our neighborhood is too small and too often used as a detour/cut through to safely ride around here so we have to be able to take the bikes to trails and parks. I’m also planning on buying either a walkingpad or a treadmill so I can’t use the Texas weather as an excuse, especially since we have 10 months of summer. I’m not placing any kind of a goal on my weight or whatever, I just plan to get active. Maybe just general improvement in mobility is the actual goal.
    • Work on business || I have been working on starting a business on the backend for a while. I want to see it closer to fruition this year.
